The Administration committed $25 million to help establish a shared-use quantum computing facility at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The laboratory will house new quantum computing hardware, providing researchers, students, and industry partners with unprecedented access to some of the world's most advanced technologies for computing and advanced sensing. With over $75 million of federally funded research MIT currently conducts on campus in quantum science and engineering, the project will accelerate discoveries in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, defense, and other emerging industries while reinforcing Massachusetts' position as the global hub for quantum innovation.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the Healey-Driscoll administration announced a $1,975,000 grant through Mass Tech Collaborative’s (MassTech’s) Innovation Institute to expand and enhance the Clean Water Center at the Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Test Center (MASSTC) in Sandwich.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced a $1.3 million, two-year grant to Boston University to expand and improve the capabilities of the New England Research Cloud (NERC). NERC serves as a collaborative, world-class cloud computing service housed at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) in Holyoke.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – The Healey-Driscoll Administration has awarded $555,000 to support the establishment of the Health AI Assurance Laboratory located at UMass Chan Medical School and run in partnership with Bedford-based MITRE Corporation. The new lab will be supported through the Technology & Innovation Ecosystem Awards Program managed by the Innovation Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, along with $137,000 in matching investments from the private sector.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced $800,000 to bolster the biomanufacturing sector in Southeastern Massachusetts through a new grant to the Mansfield Bio-Incubator, a regional biotech and life sciences incubator that assists local entrepreneurs and startups to accelerate their projects, attract new talent, provide training, and boost capital investment.

MassRobotics, the largest independent robotics hub, welcomes the first cohort of the MassRobotics Accelerator, powered by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech). This program is unique in its equity-free approach. Each startup participating in the program will be awarded a $100,000 non-dilutive grant from MassTech. 

WESTBOROUGH - The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) has launched a new initiative to boost the robotics sector across the state, an effort funded through $5 million in investment. The new department, established within the Innovation Institute at MassTech, will help catalyze a comprehensive statewide cluster development effort for robotics that will focus on expansion of research and development (R&D), testing, commercialization, and workforce development throughout the state.

BOSTON – The Healey-Driscoll administration is celebrating Northeastern University for winning three federal grants totaling $6 million from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund to support their Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT). The federal investments supported by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, which provided $1.52 million in capital grant funding from the Technology & Innovation Ecosystem Awards program managed by the Innovation Institute at MassTech.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced a $1.1 million investment to fund a three-year project at Western New England University (WNE) that fosters the establishment of a research and training cluster in advanced robotic welding technologies. The award will support a collaborative project between WNE’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing Systems (CAMS) that will work with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and local industry partners to grow the advanced welding cluster and deliver new highly skilled workers to employers in the region.
